Indus River


The Indus river is a river in India. The Indus River starts as an icy stream. The ice from the Himalayas meIts to make the ice in the stream. It begins up high in the Himalayas mountains. In the spring the icy stream isn't icy anymore. The ice melts and becomes water. The water flows through the Arabian sea which is know as today as Pakistan. When the spring flood comes around the river floods across the plain. It floods a lot of the land.

When the Indus river fooded it left fertile silt. Silt is a rich soil substance. Some other resources from the river are water, fish, and places to do laundry.

Location


It is located in Asia. The Indus flows all the way down to the Arabian sea. It flows on the west side of the Thar Desert. Afganistan is on the Indus rivers west on the other side of the Himilayas. These are just a few of the cities that setteled in its delta;Harappa, Isalmaled, and a few other small cites. They were at the same spot as the modern city Tibet.

The Indus river carries twice as much silt than the Nile river found in Egypt. Like the Nile the Indus goes into a delta before reaching the sea. Silt is another word for good rich soil. The silt from the Indus River helped make their planting season really well and succsessful.
Soon they hasd animals like cattle and water buffalo pull plows so the farmers could plant a bigger field of food or plants. The Indus Valleys hot climate made the crops grow faster.
